Recently, the famous Dr. Andrew Weil
offered a peculiar observation (at his self-named website) on the
practice of facial acupuncture. Responding to a patient's
solicitaion of his thoughts on the subject, he said, "I am not a
proponent of procedures that interfere with the normal aging
process." Could Dr. Weil be confusing Eastern medicine with
Western? Offhanded comments such as Dr. Weil's, offered in a
public forum, can be damaging to the acupuncture profession.
This fact is not lost on facial acupuncture teacher Mary Elizabeth
Wakefield, L.Ac., MSMM. To view Weil's remarks and the
comments Wakefield submitted in reply, click
